D’ elite Fitness, LLC is Deborah Robinson, a personal trainer and boot camp fitness instructor dedicated to turning lives around by concentrating on good health, fitness, and mental well-being.
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, personal trainer, boot camp fitness instructor, and fashionista. I gained a passion for fitness in the latter part of 2016, but I also realized I would have to work extremely hard to become healthier and fit and to reach my full potential in order to help others. My passion for becoming healthier and fit has grown into a desire to inspire others to reach and maintain their health and fitness goals by helping them turn their lives around.
The major turning point in my health and fitness journey began when I was diagnosed with prehypertension in 2015. I decided to take matters into my own hands because I was told that unless I was able to implement lifestyle changes to reduce my blood pressure, I would need medication, which I desperately wanted to avoid. At that point, I decided to change my lifestyle by eating healthier and working out, and I haven’t looked back since.
I didn’t diet. I changed my eating habits as I began to understand how the things I was eating affected my body and overall health. I now start my morning off with a protein bar, fruit, or Greek yogurt. Lunch is a salad with lean meat and vegetables. Dinner is poultry, fish, and other types of seafood and lots of vegetables. After workouts, I drink a protein drink to soak up the nutrition for muscle recovery and growth.
I work out 6 days a week. I do full-body strength training 3 days a week and 1 hour of cardio at least 3 days a week. Cardio is extremely important for weight loss and has other health benefits, including increased endurance.
My biggest challenge was being patient about reaching my goals and making sure I was disciplined and mentally ready. In the beginning, I felt like I wasn’t losing weight, but I realized I was being impatient with the process. I wanted the weight to fall off within a few days of starting my journey. I grew to realize that discipline and consistency are both critical if you are to be successful in reaching a goal, which applies to any goal you set for yourself. My goal was to create a new habit for myself and to get to the point where, if I missed a day of working out, I would regret it. Now, I can honestly say I’m finally at that point.
How life has changed: Since making the decision to take control of my health and fitness, my life has changed tremendously. I’ve put in the work and I have managed to get my blood pressure back to normal by eating right and adding fitness to my day-to-day activities. I’ve gained confidence in the process, and I began leading boot camp classes as a substitute trainer when my trainer is unable to attend. This health/fitness lifestyle change has empowered me to pursue my own fitness training business. I am at a point of no return, and I’m ready to help others turn their lives around to enjoy a healthier and fit life.
